Live in London, in 1983. CHANTILLY LACE: Written and originally performed by The Big Bopper (JP Richardson) in 1958. The original version was a massive hit, and a 1972 version by Jerry Lee Lewis was also a No. 1 hit on the Billboard magazine Hot Country Singles chart. The song depicts one side of a telephone conversation, with a young man talking about what he likes in a girl, including: Chantilly lace and a pretty face And a pony tail hanging down That wiggle in the walk and giggle in the talk The song reached #6 on the pop charts and spent 22 weeks on the national Top 40. It was the third most played song of 1958.
